Network Engineer Area Manager, SS7 Facilities Engineer and Capacity Planner

 

Responsible for the end to end design of the Signaling Link Paths in Granite for new nodes, augments, disconnects, rehomes and transport migrations. Creates transport forecasts for Layer 0/2 Mobility Current Planning and initiate requests for new transport to Layer 1 Capacity Management to support the SS7 signaling network. Work with provisioning and operations teams to implement engineering designs.

 

§ Study Market behavior and identify the demand for future network services.

§ Maintain consistency between demand and supply factors by identifying the needs and making transport available in the correct capacity and at the right time. Correct imbalances, if any.

§ Responsible for building and ensuring proper documentation of SS7 Links/networks in Granite.

§ Configure Cisco 7606 and 7609 Routers for Sigtran IP links.

§ Design and prepare models, systems, and metrics for capacity planning and controlling tasks.

§ Provision Ethernet Virtual Circuits remotely on varied types of devices throughout layer 2 network.

Network Facility Engineer

 

Performed in a Network Engineering capacity before being fast-tracked into Verizon Corporate Program Management. Delivered over $800k in cost reduction by removing cluster circuit capacity while redesigning the network for optimal utilization. Directed large scale consolidation of cell site circuits to single location in South Carolina, eliminating need for additional sever equipment and reducing equipment cost by 80%. Traveled to all VZW MSC/MTSO locations within the Carolinas to ensure all Cell Sites, DACS, Relay Rack, Virtual Panels, Nodes, HUB Assignments and any relationships/dependencies were accurately reflected in Xpercom/Xperweb.  Collaborated with Executive Directors to bring together the geographical, physical, electrical, optical, virtual and logical dimension of the network in XNG.

 

§ Designed, installed and cross connected over 90% of the legacy circuit assignment associated to Microwave paths using various retired engineering spreadsheet

§ Served as technical lead for database consolidation project, collapsing multiple database servers to form one large OSS environment, reducing cost by $90k and eliminating three soap interface databases

§ Effectively completed projects requiring movement of over 3,000 circuits to new end office, created “hot-cut” matrix, tested circuit traffic, and verified connectivity to ensure required systems were in place within standard telecom maintenance window
